There are several different user types defined in Managed DNS.  Each user type identifies the scope of that user’s default permissions.

For information on promoting a Normal User to an administrator see Promoting User to Account Administrator.

Dynamic Update User These accounts are used to handle the Dynamic DNS update clients. For information on creating an Update User account, see Create an Update User.

For information on Dynamic DNS, see Managing Dynamic Updates.

Normal User The standard user account within Managed DNS. Each user has differing permissions based on the Dyn Managed DNS permissions on their user account.

See Managing Permissions for more information on setting group permissions and individual permissions for users.

Full Administrator
(Account and Contract)
This is a single administrator account with all administrative permissions within Managed DNS. It combines the permissions of the Account Administrator and the Contract Administrator.

Each Managed DNS account may have either a Full Administrator or an Account Administrator, never both simultaneously.

Account Administrator Administrator account in Managed DNS. Not used for handling billing administrative duties.

Each Managed DNS account may have either a Full Administrator or an Account Administrator, never both simultaneously.

Contract Administrator May exist only when there is no Full Administrator on the Managed DNS account. Used to handle billing information and administrative tasks.

Promoting a Normal (non-administrator) User to the Contract Administrator role automatically changes the Full Administrator account into an Account Administrator.
