This guide helps you to locate the necessary information you will need to migrate your Dyn Email Delivery service or Dyn Email Delivery Express service to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. For more information about the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure service, see Overview of the Email Delivery Service.

Gather Information from your Dyn Email Delivery Account

To migrate your Dyn Email Delivery service to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, you will need to gather the following information from your current Dyn account:

  •  Approved Senders list 
  •  Suppressions list
  1. Log into your Email Delivery or Email Delivery Express account using your DynID.
  2. Click Approved Senders and record your senders list using whatever method is easiest for you. 
    Note: Your list of approved senders can also be gathered using the Dyn Email Delivery API. See GET /senders for more details.
  3. To download your account’s suppression list, click the Suppression List tab.
  4. Click Export this list. The list will be downloaded to your computer as an CSV file.

Create Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Account and First Compartment

To sign up for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure purpose and create your first compartment follow these instructions. Compartments allow you to organize and isolate your cloud resources, such as approved senders and SMTP credentials. For more information about Oracle Cloud Infrastructure compartments, see Managing Compartments.

  1. To sign up for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure service, see the free trial page.
  2. To create your first compartment, open the navigation menu. Under Governance and Administration, go to Identity and click Compartments.

    A list of the compartments you have access to is displayed.
  3. Navigate to the compartment in which you want to create the new compartment:
    • To create the compartment in the tenancy (root compartment) click Create Compartment.
    • Otherwise, click through the hierarchy of compartments until you reach the detail page of the compartment in which you want to create the compartment. On the Compartment Details page, click Create Compartment.
  4. Enter the following:
    • Name: A unique name for the compartment (maximum 100 characters, including letters, numbers, periods, hyphens, and underscores). The name must be unique across all the compartments in your tenancy. Avoid entering confidential information.
    • Description: A friendly description. You can change this later if you want to. Avoid entering confidential information.
    • Compartment: The compartment you are in is displayed. To choose another compartment to create this compartment in, select it from the list.
    • Tags: Optionally, you can apply tags. If you have permissions to create a resource, you also have permissions to apply free-form tags to that resource. To apply a defined tag, you must have permissions to use the tag namespace. For more information about tagging, see Resource Tags. If you are not sure if you should apply tags, skip this option (you can apply tags later) or ask your administrator.
  5. Click Create Compartment.

User Permissions

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides a robust set of permission features that allow you to set up granular permission policies to manage access to various elements of the Email Delivery service, including sending and approved sender creation permissions. For more information, see Overview of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Identity and Access Management.

Configure SMTP Credentials

  1. Open the navigation menu. Under Governance and Administration, go to Identity and click Users. Locate the user in the list that has permissions to manage email, and then click the user’s name to view the details.
  2. Click SMTP Credentials.
  3. Click Generate SMTP Credentials.
  4. Enter a Description of the SMTP Credentials in the dialog box.
  5. Click Generate SMTP Credentials. A user name and password is displayed.
  6. Copy the user name and password for your records and click Close.

Add Approved Senders to Your Account

  1. In the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console, open the navigation menu. Under Solutions, Platform and Edge, go to Email Delivery and click Email Approved Senders. Ensure that you are in the correct compartment. Your user must be in a group with permissions to manage approved-senders in this compartment.
  2. Click Create Approved Sender within the Approved Senders view.
  3. Enter the email address you want to list as an approved sender in the Create Approved Sender dialog box.
  4. Tags: Optionally, you can apply tags. If you have permissions to create a resource, you also have permissions to apply free-form tags to that resource. To apply a defined tag, you must have permissions to use the tag namespace. For more information about tagging, see Resource Tags. If you are not sure if you should apply tags, skip this option (you can apply tags later) or ask your administrator.
  5. Click Create Approved Sender. The email address is added to your Approved Senders list.

Add Email Addresses to the Suppression List

  1. Open the navigation menu. Under Solutions, Platform and Edge, go to Email Delivery and click Email Suppression List.
  2. Click Add Suppression.
  3. In the Add Suppression dialog box, enter the email address.
  4. Click Add. The email address is added to the Suppression List.

Cancel Dyn Email Delivery Service (enterprise accounts)

You can cancel your Dyn Email Delivery enterprise account by emailing customersuccess@dyn.com.

Cancel Dyn Email Delivery Express Service

The Email Delivery Express service can be cancelled by logging into your account at account.dyn.com with your eCommerce username and password.

  1. Under My Account, click My Services.
  2. Next to Email Delivery Express, click View.
  3. Click Request Cancellation.

Additional Information

Dedicated IP address for sending – Oracle Cloud Infrastructure supports dedicated sending IP addresses. Please contact customer support for help setting up a dedicated IP addresses to help you match your current configuration. Note: All dedicated IP addresses created in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will be new IP addresses.

DKIM – DKIM can be manually added to your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure sending domain through customer support. Please contact customer support for help setting up DKIM. DKIM support for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Email Delivery API will be available Summer 2019.

Custom Return Path – Can be manually added to your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure sending domain through customer support. Please contact customer support for help setting up custom return paths.

Send Using the API – Sending using the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Email Delivery API with be available Winter 2019/20.

Send messages exceeding 2MB – Will be available Fall 2019.

Postbacks – This feature will be available Winter 2019/20.

Monthly Volume exceeds 10M emails a month – Please contact customer support to help schedule a planned ramp-up in increasing your monthly volume limit.
