If you’re delegating your domain to its own name servers, Glue records must be created to prevent a circular reference during a lookup. Circular references occur when name servers for a domain can’t be resolved without resolving the domain they’re responsible for.

Creating a Glue Record

1. Log into your Dyn account.
2. Select My Zones/Domains from the My Services column.
3. Click the name of the domain on which you want to set up a glue record.
4. Click Edit Nameservers.
5. Click Create New Glue Record.
6. Complete the fields in the form: Host The host address of your self-referencing name server. IPv4 Address IPv4 address of the actual name server. IPv6 Address [Optional Field] The IPv6 address of the name server.
7. Click Save Glue to commit the changes to your registration

Modifying a Glue Record

1. Log into your Dyn account.
2. Select My Zones/Domains from the My Services column.
3. Click the name of the domain on which you want to modify the glue record.
4. Click Edit Nameservers.
5. Click the glue record you wish to change.
6. Complete the fields in the form: IPv4 Address IPv4 address of the actual name server. IPv6 Address [Optional Field] The IPv6 address of the name server.
7. Click Save Glue to commit the changes to your registration.

Deleting a Glue Record

1. Log into your Dyn account.
2. Select My Zones/Domains from the My Services column.
3. Click the name of the domain from which you want to remove the glue record.
4. Click Edit Nameservers.
5. Click the glue record you wish to remove.
6. Click Delete This Glue.
